Amongst these small-scale sculptures there are those that employ playful or even diabolical humor, and those full of political or social commentary. One can discover ironical analyses of philosophy, literature and art history, ranging from traditional monuments to fountain sculpture. There are comments on recently still avant-garde Minimal- or Concept Art, now a bit outdated, and works that deconstruct former sarcosanct isms or once highly-revered original creations. some artists create bizarre or neo-surrealistic installations, using children's toys, knick-knacks, scale-model houses or animals to play their equivocal and sometimes even eerie games. one can be surprised by everyday objects placed in new contexts (their practical value questioned by the artists), by combinations in novel constellations or simply (!) through a reduction in scale of real and surreal situations.

Art workshops have been organized since 1997. Since 2001 we enable the children to enter the gallery's premises and create in a peaceful environment with the help of qualified pedagogues and artists. Every exhibition represents a new challenge for the participants, performers and organizers.

The exhibition of paintings, graphics and drawings of the artists Anton Cetin, Virgilije Nevjestić and Jože Zrim was inspired by their studies at the School for Applied Arts in Zagreb (1954-59) and their re-encounter in Paris in the sixties after having graduated (Cetin and Nevjestić, both recognized Croatian artists, have graduated at the academy for fine arts, Zrim finished a pedagogical academy). Cetin currently lives and works in Toronto, Nevjestić works as a professor at the Institute of Restoration in Paris, Jože Zrim is a retired art decorator torn between Paris and his hometown.
The relaxing atmosphere of this year's exhibition ´Majski salon´ of the association ZDSL (Slovenian artists) is inspired by each of the numerous participating artists who desire to express their creativity. The mentioned exhibition is of great importance since it also introduces important artists. Especially nowadays, when basically everything can be proclaimed as art, we are aware of the fact that true art is very rare; nevertheless, it is not rarer at the exhibition 'Majski salon' than at others, more proclaimed ones. It is important that we paint, dance, and artistically praise life even when we experience it as a dark insecurity. It is important that we discover the poetry in the light of a puddle and the movement of tadpoles, dive into the world, into ourselves and desire to paint this experience. Therefore, all the images that express the joy of life, the human need for creativity are precious for someone - at least for the author since his work helps him to spiritually survive in this cruel world. The most convincing pieces touch the spectators as well. We get aware of this fact at this exhibition, which is inspired by the creative touch and mostly relies on creativity.

Meden firstly introduced work following the laws of concrete art to Slovenia. He issued the problems of inner, outer surface and space dimension of art pieces. Meden's work is based on the connection of developing phases, which have announced the deviation from the picture field as the carrier of the illusion of mimesis to the materiality of art creations, purified from iconographic themes. Consequently, his art stays true to itself and does not have to serve anyone or anything. It is that aspect that distinguishes Meden from other Slovenian modern artists, whose works express life-connected ideas, accepted and experienced in an intuitive and expressive manner.
